Offset carbon emissions: choose a surcharge on your product or service

At ecommit, you can offset (part of) your company's emissions easily by purchasing carbon credits. Each carbon credit represents one tonne (1,000 kg) of removed carbon and currently costs € 85,- excluding VAT.

By imposing a surcharge on your product or service, you can offset carbon. Think for example of a 1% sustainability surcharge on your product or an increase of your hourly rate by € 1,-. We will gladly work with you to find the way that best suits your company.

A surcharge on your product or service: how does it work?

How can you pass on a surcharge to your customer for the carbon emitted during the production of a product? And what if you offer a service instead of a product? These examples of offsetting through a surcharge on your product or service will help you get started. Start today and see the benefits of carbon offsetting for your organization.

Start from: the product/service you sell

Producing a product or providing a service generates carbon emissions. Do you want your customers to be aware of these emissions and contribute to offsetting them? Adding a surcharge per product or service can be an excellent approach for offsetting. Each sale - whether it is a bike, overnight stay, consulting session, or meal box - is suitable for a carbon offset surcharge.

Start from: the hourly rate of your service

Even in service industries, carbon emissions are a factor. Using a laptop and telephone, data storage, and traveling to appointments all generate CO2. Do you want your customers to be aware of these emissions and help offset them? Adding a surcharge to your hourly rate is a practical and commonly used method.

Start from: your startup costs

Many service professions involve creating and maintaining a client file, which also generates carbon emissions. Do you want your customers to be aware of these emissions and contribute to offsetting them? Including the startup costs for a client file in your fees can be a convenient option.
