Contribution to the climate
When grass is allowed to grow undisturbed, it captures carbon and stores it in the soil. Grass can thus play a significant role in cleaning the air. On the project lands of Blijvend Grasland, no crops other than grass are cultivated, and the land is not plowed. This ensures that the carbon stored in the soil is not released again. In addition to benefiting the climate, carbon storage also improves the soil itself, as carbon enhances the soil structure.

Project organization
Management of this project
Blijvend Grasland is a project by landowners and land users in the Netherlands who utilize their grasslands for carbon reduction. Traditionally, grassland has been a source of resources for farmers, not income. The Blijvend Grasland project offers a new revenue model for participating owners and users.
Project accountability
To bring carbon credits from Blijvend Grasland to the market, the project has undergone the following steps:
Project developer Green Dutch conducted a feasibility study to assess whether the project could issue carbon credits for carbon offsetting.
Blijvend Grasland registered the project with the National Carbon Market Foundation.
An independent auditor validated the project documents and the carbon removal claims.
The National Carbon Market Foundation issued the first batch of carbon offsetting certificates to Blijvend Grasland. Ecommit then purchased carbon offsetting certificates from this project. All data and transactions are available in the National Carbon Market Foundation's register.
A second independent auditor periodically checks if the carbon removal targets have been met. If they have, the remaining carbon credits are issued. If carbon removal is insufficient, fewer carbon credits are issued.

Contribute to this project
On the agricultural lands of Blijvend Grasland, no cultivation or harvesting takes place intentionally. The grasslands are left undisturbed to absorb carbon from the air. The funding required for this endeavor is made possible through the issuance of carbon credits. By purchasing carbon credits for your company, you support this project and contribute to reducing the amount of carbon in the atmosphere.
