Carbon credits: a means of removing and storing carbon

The Corporate Net-Zero Standard is being developed by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). The SBTi standard provides guidelines, criteria, and recommendations to help companies set net-zero targets.

In the new draft version, the priority is, of course, on reducing emissions. However, since not all emissions can be prevented - no company emits zero emissions - carbon credits are identified as a means to remove and store carbon.

With this draft, the SBTi indicates that carbon credits and climate projects play a very important role in addressing companiesโ€™ emissions challenges.
