Buying carbon credits for your business: now is the time

Buying carbon credits for your business: now is the time.

There are many reasons why entrepreneurs might want to use carbon credits: for the climate, to support a financing application or tender, to comply with the CSRD, to follow the VSME, or a combination of factors.

Whatever your reason, be aware that carbon credits will not always be as readily available and affordable as they are at the moment.

Therefore: buy your carbon credits now. Including credits for the coming years. Major developments are underway that will have a significant impact on the global supply of carbon credits - and on the price.

For example, mandatory carbon removal in international aviation (CORSIA) will start in 2027. In addition, there are Article 6 of the Paris Climate Agreement, and the EU climate target for 2040. All these developments will result in enormous demand for carbon credits. Furthermore, the number of high-quality climate projects is limited. Stricter integrity and verification standards have been introduced, which is a good thing. However, many projects do not (yet) meet these standards.

Rising demand, limited supply: enter the carbon credit market now. Buy what you expect to need in the coming years. You don't have to use (retire) carbon credits immediately; you can save them for when you need them. So if you have a sustainability target to meet, a tender to win, or a carbon footprint to reduce, now is the time to buy carbon credits.
