The Guardian - front-page article on the need to remove carbon from the atmosphere!
The Guardian, previously known for its critical stance on carbon removal, is now publishing a front-page article on the need to remove carbon from the atmosphere!
The Guardian is reporting from COP30, which is currently being held in Brazil. At the climate summit, Johan Rockström is one of many leading climate experts warning that large amounts of carbon must be removed from the atmosphere every year to limit global warming. Rockström and fellow scientists addressed the Science Council, the COP’s advisory body. The scientist told The Guardian that COP30 should include carbon removal in its declarations to draw attention to future risks and costs.
The fact that this particular newspaper is giving prominent coverage to these scientists’ findings speaks to the growing recognition of carbon removal and is excellent news for climate projects that play a key role in this area and need funding to continue developing.
