Carbono Rancho Victoria
Where trees were once illegally logged, pines, eucalyptus, and acacias now remove carbon dioxide from the air.
The Carbono Rancho Victoria project, located in the Meta department of Colombia, was established specifically to combat climate change. On land that was previously subject to illegal logging, pines, eucalyptus, and acacias are now being planted to absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. These plantations currently cover a total of 3,062 hectares.

Contribution to the climate
Carbono Rancho Victoria uses reforestation as a method of carbon offsetting. By planting new forests, the project prevents further illegal logging. Some of the trees grown in the Rancho Victoria project are selectively harvested. In addition to reforestation and forestry activities, the project developer also engages in other initiatives such as beekeeping. The project also collaborates with local communities to promote socio-economic development and improve the overall quality of life in the region.

Project organization
Management of this project
Carbono Rancho Victoria is managed by professionals with expertise in forestry and agro-industrial projects. A team of industrial engineers, forestry engineers, agricultural specialists, and environmental management professionals work together to ensure the project’s long-term sustainability.

Project accountability
To bring carbon credits from Carbono Rancho Victoria to the market, the project has gone through the following steps:
The project developer, Agroreforestadora Rancho Victoria S.A, conducted a feasibility study to assess whether the project could issue carbon credits for carbon offsetting.
Agroreforestadora Rancho Victoria S.A registered the project with Cercarbono.
An independent auditor validated the project documents and verified the carbon removal claims.
Cercarbono issued carbon credits to Carbono Rancho Victoria. Ecommit then purchased credits from the project. All data and transactions are recorded in the Cercarbono register.
An independent auditor reviews the project at least every five years to ensure it continues to meet the Cercarbono standards and that the carbon removal targets are being met.
