How will we achieve our climate goals?

Even if all countries meet their climate goals - which is by no means a given - we will still be far from the global temperature reduction target.

The gap between stated goals and actual efforts is wider than we realize, as illustrated in the sobering report “The State of Carbon Dioxide Removal.”

So how do we actually achieve our goals? One thing is certain: reducing carbon emissions alone will not be enough.

Although renewables such as solar, wind, and hydroelectric power help prevent additional carbon emissions, we are dealing with the legacy of years of emissions. It is now essential to actively remove the carbon that is already in the atmosphere.

So, to actually achieve our climate goals, we must invest in active carbon removal. This includes trees, coral, grass, plants, and advanced machines that can absorb a substantial portion of our emissions - provided we invest in them.

It is clear: simply preventing and reducing carbon emissions will not be enough to meet our goals. In addition to that, countries - and, by extension, companies - must proactively invest in actually removing carbon from the air.
